The full details
Good Daweg's Board & Train programs give your dog daily practice in a home training environment, with owner guidance to help you use the skills afterward. Compare foundation, obedience, puppy, and behavior-focused stays below.
Describe your goals and your dog's history before choosing a duration. A consultation helps you discuss suitability, care, and the lessons included with each option.
Wesley Dawe has trained dogs professionally since around 2013 and founded Good Daweg in 2020. Associate trainer Anthony Mason works alongside him. Our balanced approach combines positive reinforcement with constructive training techniques, and e-collars are used when necessary. You're welcome to ask about the training approach, the home setting, and your own role before scheduling a stay.

Compare three parts of the offer:
The sections below describe what each program focuses on, along with current published pricing. Treat the training topics as areas of work, not a promise that every dog reaches the same result on the same schedule.
The 10-Day Board & Train starts at $1,850 and focuses on foundations: crate familiarity, housebreaking, confidence, social interaction, name response, initial commands, and engaging play, all with daily training in a home environment.
This is an introductory program, not a promise of completed housebreaking or reliable obedience around every distraction. Discuss the progress that's realistic for your dog and what you'll need to practice at home.
The 2 Week Board & Train starts at $2,450 and focuses on everyday obedience around distractions, including leash walking, recall, greetings, and public practice.
Two midway one-on-one lessons and two refresher lessons are included. You can learn the handling during the stay and get help transferring the skills into your routine after pickup.
The 3 Week Board & Train starts at $3,465 for extended obedience and public-setting practice. It includes three midway one-on-one lessons, three refresher lessons, a leash, and a place bed.
This option allows more practice time and owner instruction than the two-week stay. Describe guarding, reactivity, or any bite history separately; those concerns need assessment rather than an automatic recommendation based on program length.
The 4-6 Week Board & Train ranges from $4,200 to $6,500 depending on scope. This is our longer behavioral-modification program, meant as a starting point for discussing more involved concerns, including aggression or a bite history, rather than a simple continuation of the shorter packages.
An individual assessment comes first. We need to understand the dog, the situations that trigger the behavior, and what's realistic before agreeing on a length and plan. If aggression or reactivity is the concern, our aggressive dog training, reactive dog training, and behavior modification pages go into more depth on that work specifically.
Weekly midway one-on-one lessons, multiple refresher lessons, a leash, and a place bed are included. Confirm the schedule and follow-up arrangements before booking so you can plan to participate.
Puppy Board & Train focuses on potty training, crate familiarity, name response, initial commands, social interaction, confidence, and play in a home environment. Call for puppy pricing and confirm what's included.
A training stay isn't the only way to start a puppy off well, and it's fair to ask whether it's the right choice for a very young dog. Puppy training and private lessons let you take part directly instead of handing the routine off completely. We can talk through your puppy's age, temperament, and household before recommending one format over another.
In shortYou learn to give the cues yourself; owner lessons and follow-up vary by program.
Training only holds up at home if you know how to use it. Once your dog is back in your kitchen, on your walking route, or greeting people at your front door, you're the one giving the cues and managing the routine.
Owner lessons and follow-up vary by package. Confirm the inclusions and schedule for your chosen stay. Use these sessions to practice giving cues, rewarding responses, and adjusting the exercise when your dog needs help.
Private follow-up lessons are also available beyond the program itself. These are useful when a specific setting at home, like your front door or a particular walking route, presents different distractions than the ones your dog practiced with us. Refresher lessons are another option if skills need a tune-up later on.
In shortBoard & Train builds daily consistency; private lessons keep you hands-on between appointments.
With Board & Train, your dog stays with us and trains daily. With private lessons, you work directly with a trainer and practice between appointments. In-home lessons can address situations in your own household.
Neither format is automatically the better choice. Some owners want the focused, daily consistency of a training stay, especially with a demanding schedule or a dog that needs more repetition than home practice alone provides. Others want to be hands-on from day one and are comfortable putting in the practice time between lessons.
Day training is a middle option, with daytime training and no overnight stay, so your dog is still home with you at night. Online dog training offers live coaching remotely for owners who want guidance without an in-person visit. All of these remain separate services, so you can pick the format that matches your household.
In shortHouston requires leashes outside designated dog parks, so on-leash manners matter on most outings.
Several Board & Train programs include practice in public settings, because a dog responding well in a quiet room is working with far fewer distractions than one walking past a jogger or another dog outside. Houston Parks and Recreation requires dogs to stay leashed everywhere except designated, fenced dog parks, so on-leash manners are the skill your dog needs for most outings, including sidewalks, trails, and ordinary park space.
Designated dog parks have additional rules, including restrictions on dogs with a dangerous behavior history and puppies under four months. A completed training program does not remove those restrictions. Don't use an unfamiliar group of dogs to test whether training has worked.
Tell us which outings matter to you. We can discuss suitable practice conditions, handling, and precautions before you try a busier setting.
It can be, if you want a training stay with daily consistency and you're ready to take part in the owner lessons that come with it. It's a fair question to ask, since the same goals can sometimes be reached through private lessons and steady practice at home instead. Compare the program's focus and included owner sessions against what you're hoping to change, not just the price or the number of nights, and we're glad to talk through which format actually fits your situation.
Rates start at $1,850 for 10 days, $2,450 for two weeks, and $3,465 for three weeks. The 4-6 week behavior-modification program ranges from $4,200 to $6,500. Call for puppy pricing. A boarding-only quote covers a different service and should not be assumed to include daily training.
That depends on your dog and what you're working on. A stay gives your dog focused, daily training away from home, while private lessons let you learn directly alongside your dog from the start. Tell us about any health concerns, past boarding experiences, or separation-related distress before deciding, so we can talk about both the training plan and the care arrangements honestly.
